Accessibility Surveying
Since 1996 ADAPT has
- provided guidelines and technical assistance to over 400 local venues
- communicated vital access information to over 1000 organisations
ADAPT can provide:
- a ‘walk-through’ survey of the premises / facilities to provide a user friendly, healthy and safe environment for all: Wheelchair users, People with sensory impairments, Elderly people, Parents with buggies, People with hidden disabilities, People with cognitive disabilities, Visitors who do not speak or read English The access survey acknowledges the existing facilities, identifies the barriers that people may encounter in access/egress and will seek to make suggestions to eliminate the barriers.
- a comprehensive audit and report structured to focus on safe accessibility for people with disabilities in accordance with Part R Building Regulations NI 2006 as a minimum standard and with regard to current legislation and best practice guidelines including BS 8300:2009, the Disability Discrimination Act, Good Practice Guide to Countryside Access for Disabled People and ADAPT Guidelines. Recommendations given are, inline with best practice, to remedy / eliminate barriers.
ADAPT acknowledges current disability legislation and statutory building regulations as minimum standards for accessibility. These standards are continually being evaluated as benchmarks which are likely to improve as legislation evolves. As such ADAPT Guidelines focus on a voluntary code of good practice that will engage the client’s potential for best possible standards in providing inclusive facilities and services.
